Website research findings and sketch

The kind of sites I have been looking at are heavily html based and are actually probably easier to pull off than they seem.

After looking at some of the sites I really liked from interactive design class and kinda sketched out what I want to do. I really liked the watercolor background that I used in the past so I think those will be recycled however to clean it up I dont think I am going to go as full blown with whatever style it was that I was going with.

Next step is to template all this out in html.

  1. Thanks! Actually I just did everything in a new blog. All I pretty much did was delete everything I didn't want on there in the CSS script (like date and comments) and I did 1 post per page. each link is a post.

I used an existing template and edited the crap out of it -- put a background image in there and resized the table widths of the entry -- it was prettty much all trial and error but that' s how I did it :)

I love your site! It's very unique and easy to navigate - keep it goin! :)

  2. Seems like that is easier than where I was going with it. I was just going to just do the whole site in HTML and find a place that would let me upload it for free. I will toy with that tonight after work. If either I can't figure it out or end up going the route with the HTML, I got pretty lucky and Holly Wright ended up having a template file she made before making her website that she sent me. The new plan was going to be just modify the template that she had sent me to match the sketch I had up there. Both ways should save me a day or so of work.

  3. Do you still have the URLs in Blackboard from the interactive class? Certainly the template files themselves would be useful. It would be interesting to do something like Jessica has done where you paste in your CSS into the existing blogger thing. I would definitely do like she has done in creating a separate blog just for the experiments. Call it test blog.

  4. I have all of my old template files. I wrote out a outline for a template for this site during my lunch break here at work. The template file Holly sent me was for her final site, I was going to just modify her template to match the outline I wrote out in my sketchbook.

I will start toying around with this stuff later this afternoon...hopefully things just fall into place and this goes faster than expected. However we all know things do not usually go that way.

  5. @Babcock: I did not actually answer your question in there...I do not have the urls in blackboard from interactive, however I do not think they will be all that necessary since I have my template files and that links resource page
